Yi Zhou is a undergraduate student at the Bartlett School of Architecture. Born in Beijing in 2006, Zhou is based in Vancouver and currently studies in London. Zhou’s work is interested in the crossroads of locality, materials, and experimentation in architecture/design.

To do with Wastelands
This project explores landfill geomembranes - synthetic sheets that cover mountains of waste that make contaminated lands inhabitable again.

A skin for the mountain. 

Wrinkles, folds, extrusions, and textures tell stories of the geology beneath - the surface is recognized as an interface to the objects we have buried.
